4. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
4.1 Analytics
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — collects anonymized usage events to help us understand how players interact with the App. Data is aggregated and not linked to personally identifiable information.
4.2 Crash Reporting
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — automatically collects crash logs and device state at the time of a crash to help us fix bugs quickly.
4.3 App Distribution Platforms
- Apple App Store — governs purchases and device-level data on iOS devices.
- Google Play Store — governs purchases and device-level data on Android devices.
4.4 Advertising (Optional)
- The free version of the App may display ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising ID to show relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking; Android: Settings > Google > Ads).
5. Data Storage & Retention
Game progress and settings are stored locally on your device using standard platform storage (UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This data never leaves your device unless you enable cloud sync.
If you create an account, your profile data and scores are stored on secure cloud servers (Firebase Firestore) hosted by Google in the United States.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Anonymized analytics data may be retained for up to 24 months for trend analysis.
6. International Data Transfers
WordMatch is operated globally. If you are located outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
We ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, through the use of Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
WordMatch is designed to be appropriate for all ages. However, we take children's privacy very seriously.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area) without verifiable parental consent.
The App does not contain features that require children to submit personal information. Leaderboard and account features are optional and intended for users aged 13 and above.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at the email below. We will delete such information promptly.
Personalized advertising is disabled for users identified as children in accordance with Google Play Families Policy and Apple's App Store guidelines.
